Analytics Terms
Event
A single user action or system occurrence that is tracked (e.g., page view, button click)
Property
Additional information attached to an event (e.g., product ID, price, user type)
Session
A collection of user interactions within a time frame, typically ending after 30 minutes of inactivity
Conversion
A completed goal action, such as a purchase, signup, or form submission
Funnel
A series of steps users take to complete a goal, used to analyze drop-offs
Segment
A subset of users who share common characteristics or behaviors
Cohort
A group of users who share a common characteristic or experience in the same time period
Attribution
Determining which touchpoints contribute to a conversion
Retention
Measurement of how many users return to your product over time
Engagement
Metrics that indicate how actively users interact with your product
Bounce Rate
Percentage of single-page sessions with no interactions
LTV (Lifetime Value)
The predicted revenue a customer will generate throughout their relationship with your business
CAC (Customer Acquisition Cost)
The cost to acquire a new customer

A controlled test comparing different versions of a feature or design
A/B Test
A comparison between two variants (A and B) to determine which performs better
Multivariate Test
Testing multiple variables simultaneously to understand interactions
Control
The original version used as a baseline for comparisonVariantA modified version being tested against the control
Randomization
The process of randomly assigning users to different variants
Statistical Significance
Confidence that results are not due to random chance
p-value
Statistical measure indicating the probability that results occurred by chance
Confidence Interval
Range of values that likely contains the true effect size
Conversion Rate
Percentage of users who complete a desired action
Uplift
The percentage improvement of a variant over the control
Sample Size
Number of users needed to achieve statistically significant results
Minimum Detectable Effect (MDE)
Smallest meaningful change an experiment aims to detect
